Aus dem Atelier Freiburg, direkt aus der Hand von Giulia Musella, verdichtet 'Segelboot' (Acryl auf Leinwand, 50 × 60 cm) ein abstrahiertes Motiv zur meditativen Schwelle: Ein zarter roter Mast durchzieht vertikal die Bildachse, eingebettet in kühl-blaugraue Lasuren und warme Ocker-Terrakotta-Töne, die im unteren Bildraum wie eine Wasseroberfläche zu vibrieren scheinen — eine Spannung, die im Raum nicht nachlässt, sondern den Blick immer wieder neu in diesen Augenblick des Aufbruchs zieht. Die Spachtel arbeitet nicht glättend, sondern aufreißend, freilegend: Sie trägt die Logik jener materialbasierten Malerei in sich, die Musella in ihrer kunsthistorischen Ausbildung in Heidelberg als erkenntnistheoretische Praxis verinnerlicht hat — Schicht um Schicht ein Dialog zwischen Kontrollwillen und Loslassen. Was entsteht, ist kein Abbild des Segelns, sondern seine innere Wahrheit: das Vertrauen in eine Bewegung, deren Ziel im Augenblick des Aufbruchs noch nicht sichtbar ist — und die Frage, die das Werk im Betrachter offenhält, ist dieselbe.

From the Freiburg atelier, directly from the hand of Giulia Musella, 'Segelboot' (acrylic on canvas, 50 × 60 cm) compresses an abstracted motif into a meditative threshold: a slender red mast bisects the vertical axis, held within cool blue-grey glazes and warm ochre-terracotta tones that vibrate like a water surface in the lower register — a tension that does not resolve in the room but draws the eye back, repeatedly, into that precise moment of departure. The palette knife does not smooth but tears open, excavates, reveals: it carries the logic of a materially grounded painting practice that Musella absorbed through her art-historical formation in Heidelberg as an epistemological discipline — layer upon layer, a dialogue between the will to control and the willingness to yield. What emerges is not a depiction of sailing but its interior truth: the act of trusting a movement whose destination remains invisible at the moment of leaving — and the question the work holds open in the viewer is the very same one.
