Innen und Aussen

In konzentrischen Schichtungen aus Gelb, Grün und Blau entwickelt Giulia Musella — ausgebildet in der Tradition kunsthistorischer Bildanalyse, heute im Atelier Freiburg arbeitend — eine Bildarchitektur, die nach innen zieht: Ein dunkel konturierter Ovoid markiert das Zentrum, durchbrochen von linearen Energien, die wie nervenhafte Ausläufer oder organisches Geäst aus dem Kern herausschießen, während die magentafarbene Linie das Ganze mit einer beinahe körperlichen Geste umkreist — eine Grenze zwischen Innen und Außen, die sich im selben Moment aufzulösen scheint, in dem sie gezogen wird. Die Spachteltechnik verleiht der Oberfläche eine taktile Dichte, die das Auge nicht gleiten lässt, sondern in Schichten hält — wer länger vor diesem Bild steht, bemerkt, wie es beginnt, Fragen zu stellen, die man selbst noch nicht formuliert hatte. Direkt aus der Hand der Künstlerin: ein Unikat, das den Schwellenzustand zwischen Innenraum und Sichtbarkeit nicht auflöst, sondern als offene, bewohnbare Spannung im Raum stehen lässt.

In concentric layerings of yellow, green and blue, Giulia Musella — whose formation draws on rigorous art-historical analysis, her practice now rooted in her Freiburg studio — constructs a pictorial architecture that pulls the eye steadily inward: a darkly contoured ovoid anchors the centre, pierced by linear energies surging outward like nervous extensions or organic branching, while a magenta line encircles the whole with an almost bodily gesture, tracing a boundary between interior and exterior that dissolves in the very moment it is drawn. The palette knife technique lends the surface a tactile density that arrests rather than releases the gaze, holding it within successive strata of pigment and gesture — and the longer one stands before it, the more the work seems to articulate questions the viewer had not yet found words for. Acquired directly from the artist's hand, this unique work does not resolve the threshold state it depicts — the pressure of inner life against the limits of the visible — but allows that tension to remain open, inhabitable, present in the room.
